Involvement Fair

Thanks for your interests in our club. We sent emails to everyone who signed up today. However, due to technical issue, ucdavis.edu server rejected me some emails, which means some students can not receive my email info. Therefore, i publish a copy here.

Dear investor,

First of all, we would like to thank you for your interest in the Students Investment Group (SIG) at UC Davis. Because there are so many people sign up in the Involvement Fair, we decided to change the deadline for application to Oct 8 (Saturday) 12:00 am. And the info session already ended in the last week, if you want to learn more about our club, please read the following information. If you already send application, you can ignore this email.

Introduction

Students Investment Group at UC Davis is an organization designed to teach students how to analyze different industries and find potential firms in different industries that they are interested in learning more about.

Suggestion

• Because our club is a professional club, our activity requires the basic accounting knowledge to support. If you can analyze the financial statement or already took MGT 11A/B, you will be fine. Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time on the club’s activity. You can join us after taking accounting courses.

• Our main activity is to analyze the various industries and firms. If you only want to know which stocks we invest, you can visit our website and Facebook, we will update the information. You don’t need to join us.

• SIG does not earn any benefits. All investments are virtual.

Activities

• Investment presentation

• At the beginning, we divide members into groups based on their interested industries.

• Every two weeks, each group needs to write the research report, which is to analyze the firms’ condition and predict their future stock price.

• The report includes analysis and valuation model. (We have the platform)

• Each group chooses one person to do the presentation at the meeting time.

• Group leaders vote for the recommended stocks and invest them on the simulator.

• Weekly meeting

• Members share the experience and knowledge.

• Every Wednesday, 7:30pm – 8:30pm at Social Science Building, 80 room.

• Not Mandatory

• Internship and more network

• SIG is a new club. We cannot offer internship fair in this quarter. But, in the future, we definitely will hold the network event.

• If you want to join our club, you need to send an application (we won't have the interview). Click here

• Deadline is Oct 8 (Saturday) 12:00 am.

• If we accept your application, you will receive an invitation email before Oct 11.

• Please remember that after you receive the “invitation” email, then you pay the membership fee. (We accept PayPal or cash in our first meeting). $15 per year
